It sounds like a pretty scary game since I heard they actually have rape scenes although I know it is popular. It sounds like your son had a good balance. You have many important insights...I love your blog! You have many important insights into how best to raise a child. I think limiting, discussing and monitoring what children see on TV as well as play is important. My son played those games, but I made sure not to provide that until he was older (high school). The first time I saw "Grand Theft Auto" I cringed. It's a horrible game! But he loved it, so I let it be for right or for wrong. Fortunately he played when all those games were fairly new and "fake" looking. As the picture quality has improved, I think these characters have gotten more and more realistic and that is very scary! Finally, I feel fortunate that he enjoyed other activities, like playing basketball and drums.
